Rules For Role Playing
I. What is role play?
Role play is the art of acting out the role of a character. There is many ways of doing this. Everyone has role played at least once in their life. For example: When you were a little kid, and you played cops and robbers with your friends. That is a form of role playing. For this site, we role play in a format called Para. Which is role playing in the form of paragraphs, post by post.
II. Creating A Character
Great! You've joined! You've read the rules! You're ready to create your character and get started! First of all, you will want to go to the character application board. Here you will see a template(s). Choose one, and view it. Look over it a bit to get to know what it's like. Then highlight it, and copy it. Then go back to the home page and view the Submit Your Character board. Here you should make a NEW THREAD, and paste the template in here. The title of your thread should be your characters name and race. Once it is accepted, it will be moved to the Accepted Applications board. If you cannot find your character, please contact a staff member, and we will assist you as soon as we can.
III. Posting Word Count
You've made your character, and now your ready to role play. However, you need to have at least 1 paragraph to complete a post, and for it to be valid. The average paragraph is 5 to 7 sentences. Any less is unacceptable.
IV. Intros
Your first post in the role play is your intro. Your intro is basically describing your character, and how he/she enters the scene. You are not allowed to attack on your first post. That is a big no no.
V. Firewalling
Firewalling is simple. Think of it this way. YOU may know something... But your character does not. Meaning: Let's say someone's character was going to sneak up on your character. You know this, because the person sneaking up had posted this. But your character does not. A way to get past this would be to describe in DETAIL, how your character would know if another character is sneaking up.
VI. Autokill/Autohit
AutoKill/Hit is simple, and should never be done. It leaves the fun out of the game. AutoKill/Hit, is where a person posts that there character's attack had hit. You may NOT say that. You may say things like ATTEMPTED to hit, or TRIED, but you may not say that the attack actually hit. The reason for this is: What if the other player can dodge? Or block? They need the chance to do that.
VII. God Moding
God Moding is the main thing that should never be done. It also kind of goes with AutoKill/Hit. God Moding is short for Godly Modification. So that means your character is all powerful, the best! Nobody is perfect! Remember that. All characters must have flaws.
VIII. Character Deaths
Character deaths are only allowed if, before the RP was started, all players agreed to have the possibility of having there character dying. So if you are going to have a one on one battle with another player, and you say "I'm going to kill your character." The other person has the right to say "No you're not." Because you need the other persons consent to kill their character.
IX. Winning a Battle
If one character gives up, or dies. That's basically it.
X. GameMasters
A GameMaster, or GM, is a person who is able to control the scene in a role play. They have the ability to alter the field, etc. Only thing is, a GM is chosen by the staff so he/she cannot be just anyone.
XI. Double Posting
Double posting is not allowed. If you forgot to add something to your post, inform the other role players, and modify it. If you are caught modifying your post to get out of a sticky situation you will be pulled out of the RP, and you will be banned from role playing for 3 days. You can still post on the site, just not with your character. The same rule is for double posting.
XII. Character Destinations
If your character is in one city, can he or she also be in another? It's not logical is it? Well that's why this rule is applied. Your character can only be in one place at a time. Though this rule does not apply when there is a plot event. You may be doing your own thing, while also working with the plot. 1 on 1 matches are also exceptions.
XIII. Character Limits
You may have up to 6 characters per account. If an approved character is not being used for more than 2 weeks, it will be considered dead, and moved to the character graveyard. When this happens, you have 24 hours to contact a Character Moderator, or an Admin, and get it revived. If you don't do this within the 24 hour time, it will be deleted, and never to be retrieved again.
Rules may be added in the future.
